Sessions with me

You are like a living, musical instrument.

Like all great instruments, you need tuning from time to time...

I'll show you what a tuned body/mind feels like and teach you how to self-tune.

The work is called Holistic Tuning. The technology underneath it is a synergy of conscious adaptive breathing, movement and energy awareness. It's what I have been practicing and teaching for 4 decades now.

A session is sixty to ninety minutes. We start with a check-in, move into guided breathwork, and close with quiet integration. In person in San Francisco, or remote.

I learned to breathe consciously from my grandmother when I was a teenager — she practiced Pranayama yoga and taught me the basics. In 1984 I trained formally as a Conscious Connected Breathing practitioner with Günther and Silvana Griebl, then deepened that work with Leonard Orr, the developer of rebirthing breathwork. The late Jim Leonard — who I came to consider the scientist of the breathwork community — became a close friend and helped me understand what actually happens inside the body during a session. Forty years and thousands of sessions later, I developed what I call conscious adaptive breathing (CAB).

Breath is the core and often the beginning point with elements from music and energy work layered in. My goal is not just for you to have a session that makes a difference but that I help you to develop skills and practices that help you for the rest of your life.

I recommend a minimum of 3 sessions, but even after one, this can happen: a felt sense of inner quiet that feels like coming home to yourself. With a bit of practice, that becomes a place you can return to without my help. Mental clarity that comes from energy moving freely instead of getting stuck in tension. Less reactivity — the gap between something happening and you responding to it gets longer, and that gap is where freedom lives. A deeper familiarity with your own nervous system, so you start to know from inside what's going well and what needs attention. Old emotional patterns — the recurring anxiety, the inherited anger, the depression that won't lift — finding integration on a deeper level than thinking about them can reach.

These aren't promises. They're what I've seen over forty years.

About what this is and isn't

This is breathwork and energy work, not psychotherapy or medical treatment. I'm not a licensed therapist, and these sessions don't replace clinical care.

If you're working with a therapist or doctor on something specific, this work can complement theirs. If you're in acute psychiatric crisis or have certain cardiovascular conditions, breathwork in this format may not be appropriate — we talk through that in the intake call.
